Contribution of Remote Sensing and GIS to the Inventory and Analysis of Factors influencing on the Development of Karst Features in the Middle Atlas, Morocco

The development of karst features is a complex and interactive process many factors with varying influence over time. following main seem to have influenced the occurrence in Middle Atlas Morocco: Precipitations after extreme weather events depending on precipitation pattern modified by orographic effects exposition terrain towards rain-bearing clouds are determining surface water input infiltration as well outline morphologic watersheds drainage basins. lithologic conditions such outcrops lower Jurassic limestones, geomorphologic disposition, volcanic activity within limestones combined hydrothermal dissolution processes, structural influencing permeability fault fracture zones and, thus, intensity, further factors. Ongoing aseismic vertical horizontal neotectonic movements due plate tectonic activities shallow earthquake causing reactivation consequence modifying groundwater flow hydrologic systems. Seismic can lead sinkholes collapse caves. systematic Karst-Geo Information System (GIS) recommended that should be updated regularly.
